Paris 2 Nice Charity Cycle – Fundraising Participant Story 2018
In September 2018 Ciaran Walker took on the Paris 2 Nice cycle challenge for Barretstown here is his story:
I took part, along with over 50 others, in a week-long charity cycle from Paris to Nice, just over 700 km, which is organised annually through www.paris2nice.com
For anyone who has any interest in cycling, at whatever level, it’s an amazing experience and challenge – for the particularly keen, there’s the optional extra, as part of the trip, of the climb up the epic Mont Ventoux, made famous by the Tour de France. The organisers of the event cater extremely well for cyclists of all abilities. They also make life easy, through incredibly well-organised regular food stops and mechanical back-up.
I chose to take on this event to raise money for Barretstown, because of the incredible work Barretstown does to improve the quality of life of children with serious illnesses. Also, the child of a friend of mine has benefited enormously from a stay at Barretstown during a serious illness. In the end, I raised just over €3,072 largely through the generosity of family, friends and work colleagues.
I heartily recommend the Paris2Nice charity cycle as a great way to raise money for a very worthwhile cause. See the www.paris2nice.com website for forthcoming trip information for the September 2019 event.
