It was an incredibly successful donation day for Christmas FM on December 20th, beating the original target of raising €150,000 for charity on the day, with donations from listeners coming to a final total of €161,486 being raised on behalf of their official charity partners, which are some of Ireland’s biggest children’s charities.
By lunchtime, €75,000 had been raised for Barnardos, Barretstown, Make-A-Wish Ireland and The Community Foundation for Ireland through The Magic of Christmas initiative, with €161,486 being the final tally at the end of the 12-hour period.
Christmas FM was set up 15 years ago to raise money for charity each December, and since 2008 has racked up nearly €3million for various good causes.
Christmas FM will remain on air this Christmas until December 27, and is available online throughout the year.
During this festive period, volunteers and families associated with Barretstown will be sharing their stories on air, to help spread the message of Barretstown, and encourage more people to support Christmas FM’s fundraising efforts.
