Batteries for Barretstown

European Recycling Platform (ERP) Ireland

In 2017, ERP Ireland and Barretstown teamed up to launch the Batteries for Barretstown campaign with the following goals:
• To educate the people of Ireland about the importance of battery recycling
• To increase the number of batteries recycled through ERP collection points
• To raise vital funds for the children’s charity

Since its launch in 2017, the equivalent of over 153,000,000 AA batteries have been recycled — that’s enough to circle the island of Ireland 2.5 times!

To arrange battery collections please call the ERP Operations team on 0818 332 757 or email info@erpcollect.ie

Batteries for Barretstown School Challenge

Batteries for Barretstown School Challenge was created by ERP Ireland and Barretstown to raise awareness among students about the importance of battery recycling and to challenge them to collect used batteries and help protect our planet.

The programme is FREE and every battery recycled contributes towards a donation fund for the children’s charity.

Once registered, schools will receive a FREE Batteries for Barretstown Recycling kit which contains: Battery tube, posters, biodegradable battery recycling bags and stickers for battery recycling champions.

There are FREE Educational Resources for teachers to use to inform young recyclers on why, how and where to recycle used batteries and what happens to batteries after they are recycled. See below.

The campaign is open to all primary and secondary schools in Clare, Cavan, Kerry, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and Dublin Fingal where ERP operate.
