The Barretstown Dublin Mountains Challenge is back and IT'S ON!
Join us on Sunday 28th May 2023!

You and your friends will have the opportunity to, once again, hike along the beautiful south Dublin foothills, and help raise vital funds for Barretstown!

This year, we are delighted to return with our 9th DMC sponsored hike event, and invite you to come walk this way with us and join us for this challenge!

On Sunday 28th May 2023 we will return with with our exclusive hiking event, along the beautiful Dublin Mountains Way, with either 24km & 42km options available for participants.

Throughout the month of May, participants will also have the option to take on a sponsored hike along a route of their own choosing, so no reason to not get involved!

The Dublin Mountains Challenge is an annual sponsored hike in aid of Barretstown. The route follows the picturesque and way-marked Dublin Mountains Way, starting in Sean Walsh Park in Tallaght. You have a choice or 2 distances, 24km to Three Rock / Ticknock Forest or 42km, finishing at Bradys Pub in Shankill! We will provide bus transfers from both finish points, back to the start line in Tallaght and the carpark at Tallaght Stadium.

It's going to be an incredible day together, so be sure to grab your spot before they will up!

The event this year is our 9th annual sponsored hike along the beautiful Dublin Mountains Way. There will be two route distances on the day; both route opens will begin at Tallaght Stadium, with the 24km route finishing at 3 Rock, and the 42km route finishing at Shankill.

2023 Registration Fees :

24km Individual = €50
24km Team of 4 = €180

42km Individual = €75
42km Team of 4 = €260

We also ask that all participants please gather a minimum of €100 sponsorship for their hike!

Alternatively, throughout the month of May, you can also opt to take your own sponsored mountain hike challenge, in your area, in your own time. Just pick a 24 or 42km route in your own area; set up a fundraising page and drop us an email to let us know what you are doing and we'll send you out some goodies as a thank you for all your fundraising!

By taking part in the Dublin Mountains Challenge you will help to bring more children and families to Barretstown.

The Dublin Mountains Partnership or DMP was set up in May 2008 with the ultimate aim of improving the recreational experience for users of the Dublin Mountains, whilst recognising the objectives and constraints of the various landowners.
The partner organisations involved are Coillte, South Dublin Co. Co., Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co. Co., Dublin City Council, National Parks and Wildlife Service and the Dublin Mountains Initiative, an umbrella group representing the recreation users of the Dublin Mountains, since 2018 Fáilte Ireland has sat on the DMP Board. “

People looking for the 42km Dublin Mountains Way completion badges from the Dublin Mountains Partnership can simply drop an email with their postal address to info@dublinmountains.ie and the DMP will post them out badges.

Also relevant to this challenge are the Leave No Trace organisation and the enviromental principles they uphold:
Plan ahead and prepare.
Be considerate of others.
Respect farm animals and wildlife.
Stay on designated trails.
Don't cause damage.
Bring your rubbish home with you.
