International Campers

Barretstown welcomes campers from all over the world! Our international programme ensures campers outside Ireland can experience the magic of Barretstown’s residential programme.

International Campers

International Campers

Children travelling from abroad to Ireland to camp are accompanied from their country by trained chaperones and are supervised at all times.

At camp, interpreters are in place to ensure that the children have the comfort of someone explaining things to them in their native language and to ensure that they can be understood so their needs are met at all times.

All of our chaperones and interpreters are fluent in English.

Travel Arrangements

Travel Arrangements

Our Family Liaison Team works with our Barretstown contacts in each country to organise travel and other arrangements.

Our policy requires that a minimum of two chaperones accompany every five children while travelling to summer camps.

Chaperones

If your child is travelling to camp from outside Ireland, a chaperone or our Liaison Co-Ordinator will be in touch with you approximately 10 days before departure day.

They will arrange to meet you at the airport about two hours before the flight departs. The chaperone will have the airline tickets and will take care of your child’s passport, if necessary, when travelling and while at camp.

If you are coming to a Family Camp, the Family Liaison Team will contact you directly to organise flight details. Families do not travel with a chaperone.

On Arrival in Dublin

On Arrival in Dublin

On arrival at Dublin Airport, a Barretstown staff member will meet the children and their chaperones in the baggage area in the arrivals hall and will escort them to camp where a warm welcome awaits.

Families travelling to Barretstown will also be met in Dublin Airport by a Barretstown staff member. It takes about an hour to reach Barretstown from Dublin Airport.
