Marlie's Fight for her Life
At just 3-years-old, Marlie was diagnosed with a rare brain tumour. Right after her diagnosis, Marlie required five grueling surgeries. But this was only the start of her horrible journey, with more treatment, and chemotherapy required. It changed everything for Marlie and her parents, Jenny & Craig.
“Out of all the surgeries, the radiation, everything, it was the chemo… It left her so thin. It almost killed her. It almost killed me.” - Marlie's Mum, Jenny
Marlie formed a real bond with her nurse Nessa in hospital, and it turned out that Nessa was also a volunteer at Barretstown. Then Marlie met the Barretstown Outreach team, and her Barretstown journey began.

Marlie Comes to Barretstown
Marlie visited Barretstown with her family, and experienced the life-changing impact of our Therapeutic Programmes. She was able to laugh and play, and try new things, without her illness holding her back. She was able to be a child again.
And when Marlie was well enough to return to school, the Barretstown Outreach team helped her return to normal life by visiting her class and speaking to her class about her illness. At every point of Marlie’s difficult journey, Barretstown was there. Will you help us to be there for another child just like Marlie?
