On November 24th, Megan, Emily and Shannon came up with the idea of organising a fundraiser, Stride for Barretstown, as part of their Health Promotion module for 4th year in Environmental Health at TU Dublin.
This is what the girls had to say;
We completed a 13-kilometer sponsored walk that began outside TU Dublin’s gates and ended at Phoenix Park’s boundary. We also set up a JustGiving page to allow for members of the public to donate some money to our sponsored walk with a target of raising €300. Our JustGiving page was open for 2 weeks and when it closed, we had raised €1,010 for Barretstown.
We as a group decided to choose Barretstown as we believe that supporting a charity that helps families with very sick children is a crucial to ensure that these valuable organisations continue to run, especially during these times with the presence of COVID-19. By us raising money for a worthy charity, we know that we have done our part in helping sick children to receive vital care that they need.
We would like to express our gratitude to Lisa and Fiona for all of their assistance and support throughout the development of our fundraising. I would recommend Barretstown to anyone searching for a worthy cause to support.
