Something magical happened to Madeleine at Barretstown

… all because of you! Please will you do the same for another child just like her with a kind gift.

Today I want to share a story with you that I’m sure will touch your heart. It’s the story of a beautiful 12 year-old girl called Madeleine. After coming through brain surgery to remove a tumour the size of a mandarin orange – Madeleine was left with a seven inch long scar snaking in a flattened ‘S’ shape from the crown of her head down to the nape of her neck. As I’m sure you can imagine… Madeleine hates that scar.

Over the last nine months it has been the source of a deep pain inside her. A pain so bad that she never cried and never talked about it. Instead she bottled up all of her emotions and buried the pain. In the words of her Mum, Ruth… “she built a wall around herself.” But something magical happened to Madeleine… and that magic is because of you.

Barretstown gave me back my life. It was the BEST present I got for being sick, and I got lots of presents! I don’t feel self-conscious in front of my friends anymore. I’m no longer afraid to tell people that I was sick. I wear my Barretstown fleece with pride. I talk about what happened more openly now, when I couldn’t talk about my true feelings before. I feel part of a very special place – a place that’s magical and fun. Barretstown is going to part of my life for a very long time.

That’s the real magic of Barretstown. But you see, without the generous and giving nature of amazing supporters like you, we wouldn’t be able to run our full programme of camps. You can help other children just like Madeleine by donating online today. Click here to give your gift today.

THANK YOU.
