Bake Sale For Barretstown

Here is Barretstown Mum Karen’s story

We recently did a cake sale in memory of Jack Linnane, our little boy who passed away 6 years ago. Olivia his sister misses him so much so that we decided to have a happy event in his memory to include all her school friends and at the same time raise money for a  very special place, Barretstown.  However the cake sale was then extended to family, friends, neighbours and the local cycling club (over the hill) and they made it part of their cycle route on the day. It was such fun and everyone arrived with cakes and donations. so many people helped us at the cake sale, lots of tea and coffee was drank and everyone had a great time.

The day after the cake sale there was a local family fun day and the 5 organisations who held this, Upper Glanmire Community Association, Glanmire Macra Na Feirme, Old Christians RFC, White’s cross GAA and Upper Glanmire National School Parents Association decided to donate all the profits to our cake sale too. We were thrilled with that.

Jack never attended Barretstown as it was not suitable for him but after his passing we attended the bereavements camps.  What a special weekend we always had and we try to get to Barretstown for any of the remembrance or family days!

Thank you Barretstown for all you do! So glad we were able to raise €2200 for Barretstown in Jacks memory.

Best Wishes. Karen, Noel, Olivia & Archie Linnane
